Women's Shirts

Women's tailored shirts

Dress shirts and blouses cut to your measurements — not a men's pattern made smaller. The cheapest garment to have made properly, and the one people notice first.

Why a tailored shirt

Why an off-the-peg shirt never quite works

A ready-made women's shirt is cut to one fixed ratio between shoulder, bust and waist. Almost nobody matches that ratio, so the usual compromise is buying up for the bust and accepting a shirt that hangs loose through the shoulder and the waist — or buying to fit and watching it pull across the front.

You cannot fix that by shopping harder. A shirt measured to you fixes both at once, which is why it is the least expensive garment to have made properly and the one that changes how everything worn over it sits.

Tailored, not printed

Worth saying plainly, because searching for custom shirts in Bangkok turns up a lot of it: we do not print t-shirts, and this is not garment manufacturing. These are tailored dress shirts and blouses, cut individually from your measurements in the shop at Pratunam. If you need branded polos for an event, we are the wrong address and will say so.

What you choose

What you choose

  • Cloth — fine poplin, twill, oxford, and cotton-linen for the heat
  • Collar — height and spread, which decides how formal the shirt reads and how it sits under a jacket
  • Cuff — single button, double, or a wider cuff that works under a blazer sleeve
  • Placket and buttons — concealed or visible, and the button colour
  • Darts and side seams — how much shape through the waist, or none at all
  • Length — for tucking, or cut to wear out

Cloth for this climate

In Bangkok the cloth matters more than any other choice. A fine cotton poplin or a cotton-linen blend breathes and dries; anything with a significant polyester content holds heat against you and the difference is obvious within an hour outdoors. It is the single reason a shirt gets worn rather than left on the rail.

Linen blends crease, and they are supposed to. If you want the breathability without the crumple, a cotton-linen at a higher cotton ratio is the compromise most customers settle on. There is more on cloth behaviour in the best fabric for Bangkok's heat.

Ordering, and wearing them

Ordering more than one

Once the first shirt is fitted and corrected, every shirt after it is cut to a pattern that already works — so the effort and the risk both fall away after the first. Customers ordering for work typically take three to six, and there are discounts from three upward.

If you are ordering several, take two different cloths in the first batch rather than three of the same. Wearing both teaches you more about what you actually want than any conversation in the shop will.

Bring a shirt you like

Copying a shirt that already fits is the most reliable route to exactly what you want, because we are measuring an object rather than interpreting a description. Bring it in even if it is worn out. We can reproduce it, correct the one thing you never liked about it, and put it in a cloth better suited to the heat at the same time.

Shirts and the jacket over them

A shirt is cut differently depending on whether it will be worn under a jacket. Sleeve length, cuff width and collar height all change. If you are having a blazer or suit made in women's tailoring, order the shirts alongside it and they are cut to work together rather than approximately.

Prices start from around ฿1,200 and are confirmed at your fitting once cloth is chosen — the full list is on the price guide. When you are ready, book a fitting or come to the shop at Platinum Fashion Mall.

Frequently Asked

Do you make tailored shirts for women?

Yes — women's dress shirts and blouses cut to your measurements, not resized from a men's block. Tailored shirts start from around ฿1,200 and are confirmed at your fitting once you have chosen cloth. My Suit Bangkok makes women's shirts at 419/A Oxford 5, 2nd Floor, Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam, Bangkok, alongside women's suits and blazers, so a shirt and the jacket over it are cut by the same hand from the same measurements. Fittings take about half an hour for a first shirt and rather less afterwards, and we can fit you at the shop during opening hours without an appointment.

Why does an off-the-peg shirt never fit properly?

Because it is cut to one ratio between shoulder, bust and waist, and almost nobody matches it. The usual compromise is buying up for the bust and living with a shirt that is loose through the shoulder and the waist, or buying to fit and having it pull across the front. A shirt made to your measurements fixes both at once, which is why it is the cheapest garment to have made and the one people notice most. It is also the reason a blazer over a badly fitting shirt never looks right: the jacket is being asked to hide a problem underneath it, and it cannot.

How many shirts should I order at once?

Most customers who order more than one order three to six, and there is a practical reason rather than a sales one. Once the first shirt is fitted and corrected, every shirt after it is cut to a pattern that already works, so the effort and the risk both drop sharply. There are discounts for three or more. If you are ordering for work, two cloths in different weights teaches you more than three of the same. Bring or wear the shoes and any jacket the shirts will live under, because sleeve and cuff dimensions change depending on what goes over them.

What can I choose on a women's shirt?

Cloth, collar, cuff, placket, buttons, dart placement and length. Collar and cuff decide whether the shirt reads formal or relaxed; darts and side seams decide how it sits through the waist. For Bangkok the cloth matters most — a fine poplin or a cotton-linen breathes far better than anything with polyester in it, and it is the difference between a shirt you wear and one that stays on the rail. If you are unsure, bring a shirt whose collar you already like and we will work from it rather than from a chart. Photographs of what you want are more useful than descriptions.

Can you copy a shirt I already own?

Yes, and it is the most reliable way to get exactly what you want. Bring the garment. Copying something that already fits removes every guess, because we are measuring an object rather than interpreting a description, and it lets us correct the one thing you never liked — the sleeve that pulled, the gap at the placket, the length that was never right. We can reproduce it in a cloth better suited to the heat at the same time. What we will not copy is a garment carrying a visible designer mark. If the original is worn through, bring it anyway — a shirt past wearing still holds its pattern.

Can I re-order shirts after I leave Bangkok?

Yes, once you have been fitted here in person. Your corrected pattern stays on file, so you can order more shirts from anywhere and we ship them to you. Shirts re-order more easily than anything else we make, which is why customers who move away often keep buying them. The first fitting has to happen in the shop, because a pattern built from emailed measurements is a guess rather than a fitting. Tell us the cloth and the quantity by message and we confirm the price before anything is cut, exactly as we would in the shop.
